A fine early Victorian rosewood work table with fold-over baize-lined top, raised on shaped end supports united by a turned stretcher. The pull-out silk-lined work basket remains intact.

The table features a traditional mid-19th century swivel and fold-over top mechanism.

The rectangular top rotates on its central axis to reveal a hinged joint. Once turned, the top opens out and folds over to double in size, exposing the baize-lined playing surface beneath.

The hinged leaf is supported by the solid frame below when fully extended, creating a stable and generously proportioned surface suitable for cards, writing or display.

Beneath the top, a concealed pull-out drawer houses the original silk-lined work basket, designed for needlework or small domestic storage.

The mechanism operates smoothly and locks into position once opened.
